About Me
I was born and raised in Kenya. I have always cherished going outside and being in nature. I was able to nurture my curiosity for agriculture, wildlife and forests. In fact it was my desire to become a veterinary doctor at age 10. However I changed my mind when it became clear to me that I cant stand the sight of blood and I didn’t enjoy my Biology class.
In addition, my family farm and culture have made farming a part of my life. I frequently assist at the farm, and I participate actively in groups for digital farming back home.
At the moment, I am cultivating plantains on my father’s farm.
My greatest feat so far was in graduating (Fall 2022) from UC Berkeley with a Masters of Development Engineering with a focus on Data Analytics and AI for Social Impact. This program helped in streamlining my passion and identifying where my skills would be most helpful. I have found community and fulfillment in using Big Data and AI in resource management and Environmental Science.
Additionally, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications (2019) and a Diploma in Business and Information Technology (2017) from Strathmore University. I performed well in Physics in high school and I knew I wanted to pursue Engineering. I was captivated by the possibilities for capitalizing on the gaps in internet connectivity and how influential the field of telecommunications was at the time.
